DE METHODIEK


De kans om te groeien & leren ontstaat wanneer je kan anticiperen op de omgeving. Alleen voor de orde in ons hoofd streven we conservatief naar constante verwachtingen. Dit beperkt ons in groei en in verandering.

De 5 methodische uitgangspunten:

  • Motivatiegericht Of dit nu een intrinsieke of extrinsieke motivatie is, maakt niet uit. Zolang het de persoon maar drijft tot actie. Het meeste effect heeft een training wanneer iemand het geleerde kan en wil toepassen. Iedereen heeft het gevoel van bewegingsvrijheid (autonomie) nodig om te kunnen handelen, ervaren competentie (dat het ertoe doet wat je doet) en verbondenheid ervaart met de omgeving. Zelf determinatie theorie; SDT (Deci & Ryan, 1991, 2008; Gagne & Deci, 2005; Ryan & Deci 2000, 2006; Noels, 2000; Niemiec, 2009; Van den Broeck, 2009).

  • Denk in mogelijkheden Benut wat mensen aan ervaring, kennis, vaardigheden & inzicht bezitten. Niemand is een blanco en iedereen heeft levenservaring. Hierbij prefereer ik voor vergroting zelfvertrouwen de sterkekantenbenadering ipv probleemgerichte benadering (Hiemstra & Bohlmeijer, 2013). Onze mogelijkheden ontstaan door de context waarin we (denken te) leven. Dit levert zelf-respect & zelf-regulatie (Smith & Mackie, 2007).

  • Aanleren ipv afleren Persoonlijk en cultureel hebben we onze eigen voorkeurs-leerstijlen (Paige & Martin, 1996). Via spelen en ontdekken gaan we leren. Via straffen groeit alleen angst. Het kan zijn dat er gespiegeld en geconfronteerd moet worden, maar alleen om een dogma of taboe te doorbreken en mogelijkheden tot ontdekking mogelijk te maken. Niet om iemand te veroordelen, maar om het zelf respect in de nieuwe culturele context te versterken (Kitayama 2004; Markus & Kitayama, 2003, 2010; Kwak, 2010).

  • Cultuur relativerend Een interculturele relatie met een vreemde omgeving levert spanning op die menselijk & wezenlijk is. Centraal staat de frictie die deze interculturele relatie veroorzaakt; Intercultural Sensitizer (Cushner & Landis, 1996), Wat doet dit met jouw waarden & normen en die van de ander (Triandis, 1989; Howson, 2009; Weigl, 2009; Rosinski, 2013; Northoff, 2013).

  • Relevant voor de praktijk Elk inzicht en theorie moet terug naar de praktijk die weerbarstig is voor het individu. In de praktijk hebben meerdere factoren invloed op je handelen die uniek is per situatie, persoon en zijn verleden. Culturele patronen houd je samen in stand en kan je ook alleen samen veranderen. De praktijk is hier sturend in (Smith & Mackie,2007; Watzlawick, 2001).
